Education
Southside Elementary School serves the Fernandina Beach area for pre-kindergarten through first grade. Kids can continue on to Atlantic Elementary School for second and third grade, then Emma Love Hardee Elementary School for fourth through fifth. Fernandina Beach Middle School is the local junior high and Fernandina Beach High School is the local high school, a five-star school. There are multiple colleges in the area. Valdosta State University and Brenau University are very close to Fernandina Beach in nearby Kings Bay, Georgia. Students can head to Jacksonville for Jacksonville University, Edward Waters College, or Florida Community College.
Recreation
Residents of Fernandina Beach can enjoy the many city parks, such as Main Beach, Central Park, Egans Creek Park, Atlantic Recreation Center and Martin Luther King Park. They will have plenty of shopping opportunities in historic downtown, specifically the shops lining Centre Street. Fort Clinch State Park, to the north, offers camping, hiking and biking. Other activities common in Fernandina Beach include golf, tennis, fishing, sailing, kayaking and horseback riding.

Golfing is a big recreation in this city and can be played at various clubs throughout. Fernandina Beach Golf Club, a 27-hole club open to the public, features a full-service restaurant and clubhouse. The Amelia National Golf & Country Club and the North Hampton golf community are both gated communities with notable courses. There are multiple courses on Amelia Island outside of Fernandina Beach.

The 740-acre North Hampton golf community and the 215-acre forest-covered Amelia National Golf & Country Club are beautiful and peaceful gated resort communities in Fernandina Beach. Amelia RiverWalk is a 46-acre gated community on the Amelia River immersed in oak trees. Oyster Bay Harbour is a gated yacht club, over 900 acres in area, on a peninsula next to Fernandina Beach.
